Four simple ways to make your wedding unique and let your personality shine through-When it comes to planning a wedding, there can be a lot of pressure to keep up with the latest trends, make sure you’re keeping every single guest happy and succeed in ticking every box on the ‘perfect wedding’ checklist. But the important thing to remember is that this is YOUR day, and we don’t mean that in a Bridezilla, making loads of outrageous demands kind of way.

You want your day to reflect who you are as a couple, this is what makes a wedding special and unique. And this doesn’t have to mean huge expensive statements (we now weddings can be costly!). These can be small or simple ways to make your wedding day stand out and really let your personalities shine through. Looking for some inspiration? Here’s four ways to create your perfect day.

  1. Don’t be afraid to shun tradition

A wedding itself is a pretty traditional concept, but don’t be afraid to move away from the overused wedding vows, long top tables and three-tier fruit cakes (unless you want these of course!). Do you love red velvet cupcakes? Why not get 100 of those instead! Or consider a round top table surrounded by your closest family and friends.

Stepping away from traditions can also help to reduce the stress of planning. No seating plan? Get back those hours usually spent agonising about where to sit your great aunt to make sure she’s as far away from your cousin as possible!

  1. Let the groomsmen mix it up

In recent years the mix and match bridesmaid dresses have become increasingly popular, with many mixing up the colours or styles of the dresses. But why stop there! Set to be a big trend in 2019, it’s the men’s turn to mix and match their outfits for the big day.

Not frequently done, shaking up the style of your groomsmen can make a real statement. Go bold with the best man, groomsmen and page boys in different colour schemes. Whether that’s a different suit altogether, different coloured pocket squares or a mishmash of ties, bowties and braces, you’re sure to get people talking.

  1. Let your personality shine through in the small details

Once you’ve decided the big things like the date, venue, food and music, it’s time to focus on the smaller details that really set the day apart. From creative cufflinks to handmade name tags, even the smallest details can make a big statement.

This gives you an opportunity to be really creative. You can get crafty, hand stamping name tags or choosing favours that reflect you as a couple. For example, shots of your favourite drink or badges/keepsakes from a charity that’s close to your heart.  Or are you keen travellers? Then why not use luggage tags as place settings or name the tables after your favourite cities?

  1. Raid your home and garden

Weddings don’t have to mean going out and buying everything brand new. Look around your home for family photos that you love, ornaments, fairy lights or beautiful crockery that can be used to add a personal touch to your big day.

And don’t forget the garden! Flowers can be a big part of your wedding, so before you go out and order loads in, take a look at what you have at home (or what mum has at home). Hanging baskets or beautiful pots can work a treat. Have you got any garden features or stunning carved benches that you can use on the day? This is a particularly nice idea if you’re having part of your ceremony or reception outside.

It’s the small details that make a wedding day special. Think about what it is that make you, well you! Inject the quirky and fun parts of your personality into the finer details and you’ll organise a beautiful wedding day to remember.
